Reelmelo privacy policy

Last updated: 1 November 2026

Reelmelo is a Shopify app made by Rhytmelo Designs (“we”, “us”). It lets a Shopify merchant import reels from their Instagram professional account into their Shopify store, tag products in them, and show them on their storefront. This policy explains what information the app handles and why.

Information we collect

From Shopify, when a merchant installs the app

  • The store’s Shopify domain and the access token Shopify issues to the app.
  • The merchant’s app settings (import schedule, default status for new reels, whether to tag products mentioned in captions).

From Meta, when a merchant connects Instagram

  • An access token for the Instagram professional account the merchant chooses to share, stored encrypted.
  • That account’s ID and username, and the Meta user ID the token belongs to.
  • The account’s own reels: video, caption, link, and posting date. These are copied into the merchant’s own Shopify store (Shopify Files and a “Reel” entry). We keep only a record of which reels were imported, so they aren’t imported twice.

What we don’t collect

The app does not collect or store information about the store’s customers (shoppers): no names, contact details, orders or carts. It does not read Instagram followers, comments or messages, and it does not post to Instagram.

How we use it

Only to provide the app: importing the merchant’s reels on request or on the schedule they choose, and showing the app’s settings and import status. We don’t sell this information, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except the service providers that host the app ([HOSTING PROVIDER]).

Storefront

The Reels rail on a merchant’s storefront shows reels and products from that store. It doesn’t set cookies or track shoppers. Adding a product to the cart uses the store’s own Shopify cart.

How long we keep it, and deletion

  • Disconnecting Instagram in the app deletes the stored Instagram token.
  • Uninstalling the app deletes everything we store about the store straight away, and again when Shopify sends its shop deletion request 48 hours later.
  • Removing Reelmelo from your Meta account or business, or requesting deletion through Meta, deletes the Instagram token and import records for every store connected through it.
  • Reels already imported are part of the merchant’s Shopify store, under the merchant’s control. The merchant can delete them in the app or in Shopify.

Security

Access tokens are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and all connections use HTTPS.

Your rights

Merchants can ask us what we hold about their store, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us. Requests about shoppers’ personal data go through Shopify’s privacy process; the app holds none.
